About the Group
The Auckland Reflexology group had small beginnings, with notices being placed in the Community notices of suburban newspapers to attract local practitioners. It has grown substantially and members are drawn from all over Auckland.
The Auckland group has coordinated and hosted two of the Reflexology New Zealand (RNZ) National Conferences, in 2005 and 2010, with local and international speakers including Sharon Stathis (Ayurvedic Reflexology), Chris Stormer (Language of the feet) Lee Anthony Taylor, Dr Robin Kelly, Tony Boyce and many more. We look forward to hosting the Conference once again in 2015 on the North Shore.
We also organise regular workshops, which to date have included Fertility Reflexology, Maternity Reflexology, Ear Reflexology, Hand Reflexology, Vertical Reflexology, Cancer care, Menopause, Metamorphosis and others.
Many of the members of our group are service providers for Sweet Louise, a foundation that was launched in 2006, with the primary purpose of improving the well-being and quality of life for New Zealanders, predominantly women, living with secondary breast cancer. Our group works actively with this foundation and promotes their invaluable work.
The Auckland Group represent RNZ at local events, such as the New Spirit Fair and the annual wellness festival Wellfest offering taster reflexology sessions to those attending. Our members are also actively involved in their local communities, offering workshops in schools, speaking at ladies events and local libraries.
